Hello and Welcome!
Happy Sunday, I hope that you’ve had a fantastic day and are enjoying your 3 day weekend.
Today I’m returning to a series that I created when I first started blogging and am adding a review to my Korean beauty series. Despite how popular the reviews in that series are, I haven’t added for a very long time because I found it challenging to find Korean beauty that was cruelty free.
After doing some research I found a few different Korean brands that were cruelty free and placed an order through Yesstyle. I’ve received countless messages and comments from people both on here and on my Instagram, telling me that I should buy from Yesstyle so I thought I’d give it a go. Honestly I’m unsure if I would order through them again, and if I did then I would be very selective with what I chose. Certain items they have in stock but others they have to order from suppliers, so they state how long the wait time is (in my case a lot of mine were 21 days). I’m a little confused about what delivery in the 21st century takes 21 days. I’ve had items come from across the world in less time. Therefore, the time between placing my order, and the whole order arriving, was over a month. In the future if I were to order, or if you wish to order, I would look for items that either say they’re already in stock, or have a relatively short waiting time (unless you don’t mind waiting, of course).
As you know from the title, today I will be reviewing one of the Beyond ‘From JEJU’ Masks. Specifically, I will be talking about my experience with the ‘Seaweed from JEJU’ mask.
I purchased this mask for £3.68 from the Yesstyle website. Usually in my mask reviews I will talk about more than one from the same brand. I did purchase the ‘Green Barley from JEJU’ mask as well, but it was unfortunately cancelled as it wasn’t in stock. Regardless, I’m still going to go ahead with this review and talk about my experience with this mask.
Now don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing really bad about this packaging; it’s just not the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen. I feel like this is pretty much the standard packaging for sheet masks.
I like the beyond logo though, with the leaf. I also like that the mask has pictures of the sea and seaweed which makes it clear which mask this is. This would make it easy to distinguish between masks if you bought more than one.
For this particular mask, the description on the Yesstyle website is:
‘A Cellulose mask sheet with abundant essence extracted from Jeju Seaweed offers deep moisture and revitalizes fatigue skin.
How to use:
1. After washing your face, adjust skin texture with toner.
2. Place the sheet on your face and leave it for 10-20 minutes. Then remove the sheet and dab the remaining essence on the face for absorption.’
Firstly, I found this mask extremely difficult to unwrap and put on my face. It’s quite thin and really wants to stick together. One thing I’d never seen before is that this mask had slits on either side of the mouth part roughly where dimples would be. I’m not sure what the purpose of these is, I certainly didn’t notice any difference in the way that the mask sat on my face compared to other masks without these cuts.
The mask smelt pretty good, I would describe it kind of like the smell of green tea. It wasn’t a particularly strong scent, and once it had been on the face for a while I didn’t notice it any more.
Once removed I rubbed the remaining serum in. My face felt really nice and moisturised like the mask claimed it would. In the morning my face was soft and glowy. I also found I didn’t need to use as much moisturiser.
Overall, I really liked this mask (apart from struggling to apply it). I really wish that the other one I had from this range wasn’t cancelled. I may have to pick some more up in the future to try out! Whilst I do think you can get sheet masks for cheaper than £2.68, I did struggle to find cruelty free Korean brands, so I am happy to pay slightly more.
I’d definitely recommend this mask and if you fancy trying it then you can check it out on Yesstyle here.
So this brings us to the end of this review, I hope that you enjoyed reading it! If you did then I would really appreciate it if you gave this review a quick like. I have a few more Korean beauty reviews planned (including some different masks from Beyond) so if you’d like to see that then make sure you’re following my blog so you know when I post them.
