Hello and Welcome!
As you will know from the title, today’s post is a review of one of the products in the relatively new Alex Steinherr x Primark skincare collection.
I was pretty darn excited when I saw that a collection created with Alex Steinherr was coming out with Primark. I personally haven’t tried Primark’s skincare before, nothing really appealed to me. However, I found myself extremely interested by many of the products in the range released with Alex Steinherr.
I bought 4 different items from the range, but today we’ll be talking about the ‘serum-in-cream moisturiser’ from the ‘plump and glow’ part of the collection. This item cost £5.00.
Now, if you’re thinking ‘who on Earth is Alex Steinherr’ then don’t worry, I’ll give a little explanation about who she is before I fully jump into the review. If you do know who she is, then feel free to skim past this part!
Who is Alex Steinherr?
On top of this she’s spent many years inside the beauty industry working for a couple of different beauty magazines including Glamour Magazine and Cosmopolitan.
Despite working for these companies, and having collaborated with luxury brands in the past, she chose Primark to launch this skincare collection with.
You can read more about her and the launch from an Evening Standard article here.
The collection launched 20 different products which were broken into 5 different categories within the launch, these were: Plump & Glow, Maximum Moisture, Pollution Solution, Pore Balance and Sleep Spa. The products range in price from £3.00 to £5.00.
As you can see from the title of the review, this product was from the ‘Plump & Glow’ category of her products. I mostly ended up purchasing products from that category, and the ‘Maximum Moisture’ part of the collection, since I have dry skin. Also, my Primark didn’t have the whole collection.
The whole collection is also cruelty-free, fragrance-free, vegan friendly, and contains no parabens, phthalates, essential oils, or sulphates.
Here is a list taken from a Bustle article that details everything in the collection and what the prices of each product are:
Plump & Glow:
- ‘Facial in a Stick’ – £5.00
- ‘Serum-in-cream Moisturiser’ – £5.00
- ‘The Power Mask’ – £3.00
- ‘Plumping Lip Gloss’ – £5.00
- ‘Micellar Cleansing Water’ – £5.00
- ‘Moisture Locking Everyday Moisturiser’ – £5.00
- ‘Hydration On-the-go’ – £4.00
- ‘Supreme Sheet Mask’ – £3.00
- ‘Oil-free Gel Hydrator’ – £5.00
- ‘Daily Skin Starter’ – £5.00
- ‘Low pH Sulphate Free Cleanser’ – £4.00
- ‘Super Detox Clay Mousse Face Mask’ – £5.00
- ‘Blemish Rescue Stickers’ – £3.00
- ‘Anti-blackhead Stick’ – £5.00
- ‘One-Step Night Cleanse’ – £5.00
- ‘Sleeping Face Mask’ – £5.00
- ‘Every Night Eye Mask’ – £4.00
- ‘Overnight Lip Mask’ – £4.00
As shown in the photos above, the packaging is all white. The product comes in an outer box with a cut out where you can see/feel the tube of the product. The white outer box has ‘Alex Steinherr’ written at the top with a lilac band below it, and the bottom has the product weight written below a thinner lilac band. The full product name and information can be seen written on the tube within the cut out. The tube itself has a pump with a clear cap over it.
I personally love the packaging for this whole collection. It’s really chic and clean and it looks far, far, far more expensive than just £5.00. The fact that the actual product is a ‘serum-in-cream’ rather than just a regular moisturiser, also makes it seem more expensive. Since the packaging looks so nice it looks really good on a shelf and I like that the pump is at the bottom of the product with the top looking like a regular squeezy tube – I don’t have any other products like this!
First Impressions and Review
I first tried a little bit of this on my hand before I took pictures of it as I just couldn’t help myself. It’s quite a different consistency, and is much thinner than a normal moisturiser (since it has serum in it).
I’ve been using this on my face now for a few weeks and I absolutely adore it. Since it’s a thinner consistency that a regular moisturiser, it absorbs quickly into the skin. I find it extremely moisturising as it has hyaluronic acid in it, and it’s left my skin completely smooth – I have absolutely no texture on my face anymore. My boyfriend keeps saying about how soft my face is and it’s entirely down to this serum.
I tend to apply it at night but because it’s so light I have applied it during the day, and after showers, and it works well every single time. Despite the collection apparently having no fragrance, I do think this has a bit of a scent however it’s extremely faint and is a pleasant smell.
Overall, I actually have no issues with this product at all. It’s rare for me to 100% like a product but it’s difficult for me to find something that I dislike about this. The price is amazing and the product works incredibly. I definitely think the formula for this is worth more than the £5.00 price tag. I just hope that this collection is permanent at Primark and isn’t just for a limited time (if it is then I’ll be stocking up on this).
If you’d like to try this product, I’d highly recommend that you do if you’re looking for a moisturising face product, then head into your local Primark to see if they have it!
So this brings us to the end of this review on the ‘Plump & Glow’ ‘Serum-in-cream Moisturiser’, I hope that you enjoyed it. If you did enjoy reading then please drop a quick like on this post.
