Skinirvana ‘Beauty Oil’ Review

Hello and Welcome!

I hope that you’re doing well and are excited to read this review!

Today’s post is going to be another product type that I haven’t featured on my blog before – a beauty oil. This particular product comes from a brand that I can’t say I was familiar with, called Skinirvana.

I was kindly sent this product for free to review on my blog. However, as always, this review will be completely honest and I’m under no obligation to say positive things about the brand and/or product.

Before we get into the review, I need to apologise to the brand for how long it’s taken for me to review this product. As you may or may not know, my boyfriend has been undergoing chemotherapy for many months and the treatment was originally taking place in Birmingham (we’re from Bristol/Bath). Products were still being sent to my house in Bristol but it’s taken me a long time to get back into the swing of reviewing them. The brand has been incredible and hasn’t pressured me at all to complete this review. This is really important to me as I have had brands put a lot of pressure on me, despite knowing my situation, so I really appreciate brands that are as patient as Skinirvana have been.

The product that I was sent, and will be reviewing today, is the Skinirvana ‘Pure Bliss Delicate Beauty Oil’ which costs £45.

As I do with all brands that might not be as well known to you, I’ll give a quick bit of background information into the brand before we talk about the product and my thoughts.

Who are Skinirvana?

Skinirvana is a UK-based skincare brand that was founded by an individual called Mary-Rose Lobo.

The brand began after Mary-Rose had a reaction to a commercial skincare product. She had previously suffered with eczema and rosacea, but only after this reaction did she wonder whether it was the skincare products she was using that were causing her skin issues.

She set about creating a new skincare product that would be safe for daily use. Choosing plant oils, due to their apparent mimicking of the skin’s natural PH levels, Mary-Rose spent years perfecting face oil blends. In 2014 she opened a facial salon in South-East London.

She describes the oils as products that are meant to be used in place of your daily moisturiser, in both the morning and evening.

Each product is hand poured, 100% natural, chemical-free, cruelty free, vegan, and have 95% of ingredients from organic origin.

She has two forms of the beauty oil, the ‘Pure Bliss Delicate Beauty Oil’ that I will be reviewing today, and the ‘Pure Bliss Original Beauty Oil’. The first is described as being suitable for those with sensitive or fragile skin.

If you’d like to read more about the brand then you can do so via their ‘Story’ page here.

My mum actually sent me a picture of this product when it arrived because I was away from home and I was very excited.

I love the packaging for this, I genuinely think that it’s beautiful. I love that it’s white and I like the blue paint splatters on the packaging behind the printed label. Furthermore, I am glad that it’s made of cardboard and is therefore recyclable – as a lot of skincare comes in plastic (which is still recyclable but worse for the environment).

The main product information including the brand and product name is written in gold and we all know that I love anything gold (weirdly, apart from jewellery). Then under that some claims for the product are printed. It says:

‘The Skinirvana Pure Bliss Delicate Formula works in harmony with your skin and psyche to enhance your complexion with notes of Geranium, Lavender, and Neroli

This luxurious beauty oil is safe for pregnant ladies and nursing mothers or those with sensitive skin’

The bottle itself is a brown tone with the same gold writing. It is glass and comes with a dropper inside the bottle which can be squeezed from the cap. Again I do like the packaging of the bottle but I must say that I like the outer cardboard packaging more. I just don’t think that I like the colour of the bottle too much.

First Impressions & Thoughts

I’m going to say something silly but my first thought when I used this product was that it was oily. Absolutely mind blowing I know – that a beauty oil is oily.

I have very dry skin and I’ve never tried a beauty oil before so I was excited to try this. It is definitely very good at hydrating and I only need a couple of drops to cover my whole face since it is an oil and is easy to spread. I also did not have any reaction this product! I have had a few bad reactions to natural products (almost every natural product to be honest), but this delicate one gave me no reaction at all so I believe its claims that it is suitable for sensitive skin.

Being completely transparent, I don’t use this product any more because I did just find it to be too oily. I would use it overnight but sleeping whilst having greasy-feeling skin wasn’t something that I enjoyed. I didn’t find that it absorbed very quickly so it did end up being rubbed onto my pillows (and I wasn’t applying much).

I tend to break out around my chin and nose sometimes so I decided not to use in those areas to avoid any possible breaking out since it is an oil.

There’s no denying that this product hydrates very well, but I personally prefer products that absorb into my skin quicker as I like to go to bed immediately after my skincare routine and don’t want products getting all over my bedding. I think it’s just that I don’t like beauty oils, and not that there’s any issue with this particular beauty oil.

I think if you already are used to using beauty oils and enjoy them, then I do think that you’ll really enjoy this oil. I like that this product is natural and it will last a very long time since you only need a few drops. I do think that the price is a little high for this product but I understand why since it is a 95% organic, 100% natural, and hand-poured product.

If you would like to try this product then you can pick up from the Skinirvana website here for £45.00. Additionally, if you don’t have sensitive skin and you’d like to take a look at the original product then you can find that product here.

So this brings us to the end of this review, I hope that you enjoyed reading it and if you did then please give this post a quick like! Also make sure that you follow my blog if you aren’t already, I’m so so close to reaching my goal for this year.

Wow sounds interesting! I couldn’t possibly use oils both in the morning and evening, as founder of this brand described, but I guess I could use oil overnight once-twice a week during winter time ? Great review ❤️

Me either! I struggled just using it at night. Perhaps once every couple of days or so as you suggest might be better! If it gets super cold or I notice my skin being really dry then I might try that (maybe in the summer if we have heat like we did this year again) ❤️
