Hello and Welcome!
I hope that you’ve had a great week and are having a fantastic Sunday.
Before I get into this review, I just want to address that I’m aware I only posted once both last week and this week, and haven’t posted for 8 days. If you follow me on Instagram (shameless promo – follow me here) then you’ll already know why I haven’t been posting as I wrote about it yesterday. Basically I haven’t been posting because I haven’t been happy (and I’ve been unbelievably busy). As I wrote on Instagram, during the times when I’m down I find social media to be extremely isolating. I have high standards for what I post on Instagram and my reviews on here so I don’t feel comfortable putting something out that I’m not 100% happy with – so I end up not doing it at all. I am feeling slightly better, hence this review, and a post on Instagram yesterday. However, I just wanted to quickly address it so you know if I don’t post as frequently, it isn’t because I’m not going to continue blogging, it’s just because I’m not feeling great.
I’m also really busy next week so I’m unsure if I’ll be posting two reviews then, but there will definitely be at least one review next week. Additionally, I then have a two week break so I’m hoping to pre-write a bunch so I have still have reviews to post whilst I’m really busy or not feeling great.
So with that out of the way, let’s jump into this review.
As you can see by the title, today I’m going to be reviewing the Stila ‘Stay All Day MATTE’ificent Lipstick’. Not to be confused with the Stila ‘Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks’, these are your traditional stick lipstick. Based on my previous few reviews on Nip + Fab, and Stila, you probably aren’t surprised to know that I bought this lipstick from TK Maxx.
The Stila ‘Stay All Day MATTE’ificent Lipstick’ retail for £15.00 on the Stila website. However, I bought this from TK Maxx recently for £4.99. I got the shade ‘Soirée’, which is a fuchsia pink. At the TK Maxx I was at, this was the only one in the store so I was thankful to have found it.
Again, if you’ve read even a couple of my blog posts, this will come as no surprise but I love the packaging. The outer box is the same as all other Stila packaging I’ve had – gold, with the brand name raised, and the product name and weight on the front. The tube itself is pretty small and thin but is absolutely beautiful. The tube is a more matte gold shade with shiny gold geometric patterning on one half and the brand name on the other half.
On the Stila website, this product has the following description:
‘Blending the creamy lusciousness of our iconic Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick with the perfect balance of concentrated pigments and oils, this lasting lip colour delivers a smooth, weightless, creamy matte finish that’s never heavy or dry. Soft, jelly-like film formers hydrate, protect and adhere colour to lips. It’s all about cushion comfort coverage in a sleek stick form. In French inspired shades for haute appeal.
- Vivid, rich, one-swipe colour
- Long-lasting, super comfortable wear
- Non-drying, lightweight texture
- Infused with nourishing Argan Oil, Castor Oil and Vitamin E’
Firstly, I realised when I went to review this product this morning, that I’ve lost this lipstick somewhere – please can we take a moment of silence for that (UPDATE: after days of searching, I have found it, it was an emotional reunion).
I’m determined to find it though because this lipstick is really good! The claims of the lipstick providing vivid and rich colour in one swipe is absolutely true. This isn’t a lipstick that you need to layer at all. The colour that I have is really pretty and I think it suits me nicely – it is quite bright but it isn’t too much.
However, I don’t think the whole ‘stay all day’ part of the name is completely true. The lipstick isn’t transfer-proof, if you eat or drink it will move around and some of it will come off. Therefore, it does need touching up throughout the day. That being said, it doesn’t fade as much as some other bullet lipsticks that I’ve tried. I also do find it to be a touch drying if worn all day but again it’s not as bad as other lipsticks I have.
Overall, I really like this lipstick. Compared to other bullet lipsticks that I’ve tried which are around the same price point, I would recommend this one as it does stay on longer and doesn’t fade as much as others in this price range. I think the formula is amazing and is a good balance between being creamy and being dry. It’s not so creamy that it moves around once it’s on and is difficult to control, and it’s not so dry that it pulls on your lips and is hard to apply. This particular colour I would highly recommend, I think it’s really beautiful and would suit a lot of skin tones. As I always say in posts where I’ve bought items from TK Maxx, if you have one near you then be sure to check it out. You can find some incredible deals on great products as long as the beauty section isn’t in really bad shape. I’m very sad that I’ve lost this lipstick, but am determined to find it. If I can’t then I’d definitely consider paying the full-price to replace it as I’ve found myself reaching for it a lot.
If you’d like to buy this shade, or any of the other 11 shades that Stila carry in this lipstick, then you can do so on the Stila website for £15.00 here.
Okay so this brings us to the end of this review, I really hope that you enjoyed reading it! If you did, then please give this review a quick like. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this product so drop a comment if you’ve tried this lipstick, or think that you’d like to try it. Also, be sure to follow my blog if you think that it’s something that you’d like to read in the future, I have more Stila products to review (from TK Maxx, of course)!
