Hello and Welcome!
I hope you’re having a great day! Today I thought I’d write a slightly different post, which I’ve been wanting to write for a while, and write a post about my favourite (and really affordable) cleanser and toner.
I first bought these products a while back from Boots as I was looking for a cleanser and toner to use together. I’ve used some cleansers and toners before but never religiously and really wanted to start taking better care of my skin.
After having a look at a few different ones I settled on trying the following products:
- Simple ‘Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion’ – £3.80
- Simple ‘Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner’ – £3.80
Typically I’m the type of person where if a product says ‘best used with [insert another product by the same brand here]’ I never buy the accompanying product. However, in this case I decided to pair the ‘Purifying Cleansing Lotion’ with the product it recommended following with; the ‘Soothing Facial Toner’.

Simple ‘Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion’ – £3.80
This product appealed to me as I have dry skin, so I thought that a cleansing lotion might be the way forward.
On the Boots website, the product is described with the following:
‘Our Purifying Cleansing Lotion is a perfect blend of active ingredients and vitamin goodness to gently cleanse drier skin keeping it smooth and softened. Perfect for even sensitive skin.’
Additionally, it contains:
- 1 Vital Vitamin
- Pro-Vitamin B5 actively restores, softens and smoothes
- 2 Skin Loving Nutrients
- Bisabolol soothes and clams
- Allantoin softens and protects
- 0 – No Perfume, No Colour
- No Unnecessary Ingredients and
- No Harsh Chemicals so it won’t upset your skin
- Simple skincare contains no animal derived ingredients
Now I’m not going to lie, I have no idea what some of this is, however I like that it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, has no animal derived ingredients, and that it contains vitamins.
It directs you to apply the product to a cotton pad, and use morning and night, applying the product in upward and outward directions. However, I only use it in the evenings before I go to bed, as part of my night-time skincare routine. I’m unsure whether my face just attracts dirt, or if this product is just really fantastic, but I always find that the product removes a lot of dirt. Additionally, my face always feels really soft and smooth after use.
I’ve been using this product daily for a few months now and I can honestly say that it has helped with my dry skin. Whilst my face still does get slightly dry in some areas, it is nowhere near as bad as before I started using this product, and I’m really impressed with how amazing it makes my skin feel and look.
I think this product is absolutely fantastic, and I love that it’s so affordable. It’s definitely going to be very hard to convert me to a different cleanser at this point. I even have this on my Christmas list so I know I won’t run out!

Simple ‘Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner’ – £3.80
The main thing I was looking for when I was searching for a toner, was for it to not contain alcohol as toners that have a lot of alcohol in tend to dry out my skin a lot. This was why I grabbed this toner, and I actually picked this up before finding the cleanser.
The description on the Boots website for this product is as follows:
‘Simple Soothing Skin Toner prepares the way for perfect moisturising and is essential for healthy and radiant skin.’
Additionally, it’s described as containing:
- Chamomile: gently soothes
- Witch Hazel: helps tone and tighten pores
- 100% alcohol free: non drying, leaves skin soft
- pH balanced: works in harmony with your skin
- No perfume.
- No colour.
Just like with the cleanser, this product directs you to put the product on a cotton wool pad and apply in upward and outward motions, morning and night. Again, I only apply this at night after using the cleanser.
Unlike when I use the cleanser, I don’t see much dirt or makeup removed by this product (probably because the cleanser has already got it all). Nevertheless it makes my skin feel super soft and soothed. The thing I love most about this product is that it doesn’t dry out my skin, at all, and in fact makes it feel really moisturised. Back in my days of knowing virtually nothing about the beauty world, I remember using some REALLY drying, alcohol filled, toners which I’m sure did not help me having dry skin at all. So I am really, really glad that this one isn’t like that and instead leaves my skin feeling clean, and hydrated.
If you would like to find out more about this toner, or try it yourself, then you can check it out on the Boots website.
Overall, I really love this combination, it’s been helping my dry skin and been keeping my skin looking really healthy and fantastic. I would definitely recommend these, and I think the price is really affordable (plus Simple skin is on 3 for 2 right now at Boots). I’m so glad that I found these in Boots, and I am really curious to try out other Simple products after enjoying these so much!
This being said, I love hearing different points of view, as we’re all different, and would love to hear your thoughts on these products, have you tried them? What did you think?
This brings us to the end of this review, I hope you liked it! It’s a bit different to what I typically do, but if you did enjoy it then please give it a like, and if you think my blog contains content you’d be interested in reading then make sure you follow me to stay up to date – I post twice a week.
